On 5 May 2007 Kenya Airways Flight 507 crashed immediately after takeoff from Douala International Airport in Cameroon. All 114 passengers and crew were killed. Wreckage was scattered in a mangrove swamp and efforts to recover bodies were delayed by heavy rain and by the relative inaccessibility of the surroundings. Victim samples were sent to ICMP, which produced 107 unique DNA profiles. These profiles were then matched against family reference samples.
