ICMP expresses condolences on the death of Ramiz Nukić

The Hague, 8 November 2022: The Commissioners and staff of the International Commission on Missing Persons express their condolences on the death of Ramiz Nukić who, for more than 20 years, devoted his life to the search for genocide victims in the forests around Srebrenica.

“Ramiz was a very special person. He responded to the crime that was perpetrated against his family by embarking on an unrelenting search for the remains of Srebrenica genocide victims,” ICMP Director-General Kathryne Bomberger said today. “His life and work have been an inspiration to everyone who is engaged in the search for, and identification of missing persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina and beyond.”

Ramiz’s father and brothers were killed in the July 1995 Genocide; their remains were found in the Zvornik area in 2015 and after identification buried at the Memorial Center in Potočari.
