MPG is the only mechanism of multilateral cooperation on missing persons among states in the region. It was created in 2018, in the context of the WB Berlin Process and supervises operations under a Framework Plan signed in November 2018 at ICMP’s Headquarters in The Hague.

The regional governments continue to cooperate to find the remaining 11,000 persons missing from the conflict through the ICMP facilitated Missing Persons Group (MPG), which consists of government representatives from the region.

Over the last 25 years, Governments in the countries of former Yugoslavia have managed to account for over 70% of around 40,000 persons reported missing after the conflicts, an achievement that has not been equaled anywhere in the world.

O ICMP-u

ICMP is a treaty-based international organization with Headquarters in The Hague, the Netherlands. Its mandate is to secure the cooperation of governments and others in locating missing persons from conflict, human rights abuses, disasters, organized crime, irregular migration and other causes and to assist them in doing so. It is the only international organization tasked exclusively to work on the issue of missing persons.
