ICMP Commends BiH Parliament for Marking Human Rights Day by Highlighting Plight of the Missing

Ms. Kathryne Bomberger, ICMP Director-General commends Bosnia and Herzegovina for marking the 60th anniversary of the Declaration of Human RightsICMP commends Bosnia and Herzegovina for marking the 60th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights by holding a special session of the Joint Committee on Human Rights, Rights of the Child, Youth, Immigration, Refugees, Asylum and Ethics of the Parliamentary Assembly.

During the special session Ms. Kathryne Bomberger, the Director-General of ICMP, noted, “There are still over 13,000 persons missing from the armed conflicts that took place in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This fact constitutes one of the biggest human rights issues facing Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region today.”

High-Level Colombian Delegation Visits ICMP

Colombian delegation recives a presentation from ICMPDelegacija 19 visokih zvaničnika iz Kolumbije, uključena u rješavanje pitanja nasilnih nestanaka u Kolumbiji, posjetila je sjedište Međunarodne komisije za nestale osobe (ICMP) u Bosni i Hercegovini u periodu od 20. do 25. novembra 2008. godine.

Na osnovu svojih iskustava i stručnosti, ICMP je za kolumbijsku delegaciju održao detaljne prezentacije o jačanju institucionalnih kapaciteta, stvaranju održivih zakonskih okvira i poboljšanju tehničkih mogućnosti za lociranje, ekshumaciju i identifikaciju nestalih osoba. Osim toga, ICMP je posebno naglasio značaj uključivanja građanskog društva u sve aspekte procesa i potrebu za adekvatnim obrazovanjem i informisanjem udruženja porodica nestalih osoba o samom procesu.

11th annual Regional Networking Conference on the Missing Persons IssuesMeđunarodna komisija za nestale osobe/lica (ICMP) organizirala je konferenciju u Beogradu, u Republici Srbiji, od 28. do 30. novembra 2008. godine, na kojoj se okupilo više od stotinu predstavnika udruženja porodica nestalih, nadležnih institucija vlada u regionu, kao i parlamentarci i predstavnici organizacija za ljudska prava kako bi diskutovali o problemima vezanim za otkrivanje sudbine osoba nestalih u konfliktima u 90-im godinama prošlog vijeka u Jugoistočnoj Evropi.

Germany Continues Vital Funding to ICMP

ICMP Director General, Ms. Kathryne Bomberger and the German Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Joachim Schmidt are signing a donor funding agreementVlada Njemačke nastavlja svoju vitalnu podršku radu Međunarodne komisije za nestale osobe (ICMP) donacijom od 600.000 eura za ovu godinu. Ova donacija namijenjena je ICMP-evom programu DNK identifikacije, pomoću kojeg je ICMP do sada pomogao u identifikaciji skoro 12.000 osoba nestalih 90-ih godina prošlog stoljeća u oružanim sukobima u Bosni i Hercegovini.

ICMP releases key report on Colombia’s Missing

The report, entitled Colombia's Response to Enforced Disappearances, examines Colombia's efforts to confront the problem of thousands of cases of enforced disappearance through analyzing its work in searching for and identifying victims, including the institutional and procedural mechanisms established for that purpose, the technical processes employed and the work undertaken directly with the victims, as they were at the close of the assessment (March 2008). Further, the report contains a list of precise recommendations that, if implemented, should further enhance different aspects of the search and identification process in Colombia.

US Ambassador visits ICMP in Banja Luka

Ambasador Sjedinjenih Američkih Država u Bosni i Hercegovini, njegova ekselencija Charles L. English, posjetio je danas DNK laboratoriju Međunarodne komisije za nestale osobe (ICMP) u Banja Luci. Generalna direktorica ICMP-a, Kathryne Bomberger, ugostila je Englisha tokom njegove posjete.

„Dostignuća ICMP-a na pružanju pomoći ovoj zemlji u njenom suočavanju sa problemom nestalih osoba me ne prestaju impresionirati”, izjavio je ambasador English. „Uz pomoć ICMP-a skoro 12.000 osoba nestalih u sukobima u 90-im godinama u Bosni i Hercegovini je pronađeno i identificirano, čime je porodicama dat osjećaj smiraja”.

Milestone achieved in INTERPOL and ICMP efforts in DNA-assisted identification of Philippines typhoon disaster victims

NBI, INTERPOL and ICMP announcing 122nd DNA-assisted identificationINTERPOL i Međunarodna komisija za nestale osobe (ICMP) danas su objavili da je identificirana 122. žrtva tajfuna „Frank”, koji je u junu poharao filipinsku provinciju Cebu. Procjenjuje se da je usljed tajfuna „Frank” oko 1.330 ljudi izgubilo živote, uključujući 820 putnika i posadu trajekta „Princess of the Stars”.

Tim za identifikaciju žrtava nesreća u Cebu City-u, sastavljan od stručnjaka iz filipinskog Nacionalnog ureda za istrage (NBI), ICMP-a i INTERPOL-a te njegovih država-članica iz cijelog svijeta, objavio je danas 34 nove identifikacije, ostvarene pomoću ICMP-eve najsavremenije tehnike za DNK identifikaciju.

Lange je obišao ICMP-ev Identifikacijski projekat Podrinje (PIP) u kojem forenzički antropolozi i patolozi pregledaju, pohranjuju i vrše konačnu identifikaciju posmrtnih ostataka osoba nestalih padom Srebrenice 1995. godine.
