René Huel joined ICMP in August 2004 as a DNA Scientist. Two years later, he was appointed as Head of DNA Laboratories Division for ICMP and continues in this role today.
As a member of ICMP’s DNA Division, Mr. Huel has been involved in developing and validating new technologies in the lab and helped oversee the initial ISO accreditation (ISO 17025) of the labs in 2007. ICMP’s DNA Division continues to process samples from a variety of contexts and countries from around the world. These include disaster victim identifications, post conflict, and individual missing person’s cases. Prior to joining the ICMP, Mr. Huel held positions in private biotechnology and in research for the Canadian Government. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Lethbridge and in 2017 was inducted into the Alumni Honour Society.
