Lourdes Prieto is a DNA expert with the Spanish Interior Ministry’s Comisaría General Policía Científica and a research collaborator at the DNA laboratory of the University of Santiago de Compostela. Prieto is a Member of the Editorial Board of the academic journal, Forensic Science International: Genetics, and a forensic consultant with the ICRC. She has been a member of the Spanish National Commission on DNA Analysis with Forensic Purposes and a member of the DNA Commission of the International Society for Forensic Genetics (ISFG). From 2008 to 2020, Prieto served as President and Vice-President of the Spanish and Portuguese Working Group of the International Society for Forensic Genetics (GHEP-ISFG).
